In the last few weeks there have been many
talking points as far as English Premier League is concerned. The sacking of
Roberto Di Mateo, the Chelsea manager and appointment of Rafael Benitez has
been on the mouths of every Chelsea fan. RDM and his led Chelsea were one of
the top soccer picks at the start of
BPL 2012-13 especially after winning the Champions League. Though they started
the season strong, but they have disappointed in Europe as well as in the
league. It was too hard for Roman Abramovich to digest. Rafael is not the
choice for Chelsea fans and his team’s loss to West Ham has ignited the fire
even further.
Swansea on the other hand is a dark horse in
this year’s BPL as far as tips for soccer from pundits are concerned. The Spaniard Miguel Michu has made an
instant impression after coming to BPL. Michael Laudrup has Swansea many steps
forward after the departure of Brendan Rodgers. Swansea can upset anyone on
their best days as was revealed at Emirates Stadium last week. They are sitting pretty at the seventh
position. On the other hand Arsenal has their set of problems. The forwards are
still not firing and they still seem to be missing Robin Van Persie’s services.
Mr. Wenger will have to spend big in January transfer window.
At the top Manchester clubs are going strong.
Manchester United is sitting at the top position despite their defensive
frailties. Though they are conceding many goals (which will be a concern of Sir
Alex) but they have the fire-power in the form of Rooney and Van Persie to
score more. Manchester City on the other hand seems to be lacking a cutting
edge in the midfield. Yaya Toure is still not firing all cylinders, though
Tavez is finding some lost touch.
At the bottom Queen’s Park Rangers are
nearing their exit from the BPL with every passing game. Will Harry Redknap be
able to prevent their slide? That’s one of the questions. They are not a part
of any persons soccer picks. Though
a lot of money has been spent behind this team, but quality is still missing in
the squad.
