Apart from the big match-ups on Sunday, one
of the points of interest was the EPL debut of much appreciated striker Loic
Remy for Queens Park Rangers. He made a great debut, being a constant threat to
West Ham defence. He scored a goal too for his hard work. But QPR could only
salvage a draw. With all the money spent, QPR are still lying right at the
bottom of the EPL table with 15 points. It seems only a miracle can save this
team from falling out of the Premier League. They are not in any persons soccer picks to stay afloat.
Though Reading is still in the drop zone but
their performances in the recent past have been good. They had a great victory
this weekend over Newcastle United. Le Fondre with his double strike made sure
Reading had a memorable win. Newcastle on the other hand looks to be a side
full of problems. Suddenly form has left them and the loss of Demba Ba is
looking burdening for them. At the start of the season Alan Purdew’s men looked
to be making a bid for European spots, but their aspirations have been blown
away. They lay two points clear of the drop zone at the moment.
Now, let us concentrate on two talked about
games this weekend. First was, Chelsea taking on Arsenal. Chelsea looked to be
only one team on the ground. They dominated the first half and became one of
the outside soccer picks to clinch
this year’s EPL. But second half had a different story to tell. Arsenal came
back strongly and dominated the game. Gunners even reduced two goal deficit of
first half to one. But they were on the losing side after the end of the game.
Second match was played out between Manchester United and Tottenham. Cold
weather meant no team was really able to display all their skills. But Robin
Van Persie yet again and proved why every tips
for soccer columns stated his acquisition as priceless for Manchester
United. Tottenham rallied around, but their equalizer came only a few minutes
from the final whistle. So, the spoils were shared. This meant the gap between
two Manchester clubs was reduced to 5. Manchester City is still hot among the soccer picks.
